Fixing a mistake

Wrong amount, wrong person, wrong day — you can correct it, and the correction is visible rather than hidden.

Everyone types the wrong number sometimes. Businessly lets you fix it, and it does so honestly: the original never vanishes, so your book can always explain itself.

Two ways to correct something

Tap the entry — on a customer's statement, in the cash book, or in expenses — and the ⋮ menu offers:

What it does
EditChange the amount, note or details. The entry keeps an edited tag.
Cancel entryUndo it entirely. It stays visible, struck through, and stops counting.

Editing

Choose Edit, change what was wrong, and save. The entry now carries a small edited tag — tap it to see Before edit and the original values.

Cancelling

Cancel entry reverses it. The line stays in the history with a line through it and no longer affects any balance or total.

What cannot be edited this way

Bill payments and installment payments are managed from their own screens, with Record and Undo, so they do not offer a free-form edit. Undo the payment and record it again correctly.

Loans have their own Mark returned action rather than an edit — see Loans.

Wrong date

If the only problem is the date, edit the entry and use On date… to move it to the day it really happened. Your daily totals and the seven-day chart will follow.

Wrong person

There is no "move to another customer". Cancel the entry on the wrong person and record it again on the right one. Both actions stay visible, which is exactly what you want if anyone ever asks.
