Keeping it safe

Sync across devices

The same book on your phone and your PC, kept in step without you thinking about it — and what the status line is telling you when it is not.

Sign in on two devices with the same account and they share one book. Record a sale on the phone at the counter; it is on the PC when you sit down.

It works offline

Sync is not a requirement for using the app. Entries are saved on the device immediately and sent up when there is a connection.

Reading the status

Settings → account section shows where you stand:

StatusMeaning
SyncedEverything is up to date
Syncing…In progress
Offline — changes saved on phoneNo connection; nothing lost
Sync error — will retrySomething failed; it will try again
Saved on this phoneSigned in, but only one device — Add another device to start syncing

Sync nowPush & pull the latest now — forces a round trip if you do not want to wait.

Businesses that never sync

A business can be marked Keep on this device only. It carries an On this device only badge, stays on that device, and never reaches the cloud — even while you are signed in. Everything else shows Synced to your account.

See Multiple businesses.

Phone and PC together

Both platforms sync identically — same account, same book.

On Windows

Signing in on a PC is easiest by email, since the code arrives in your inbox. Google works too, via your browser. See Signing in.

What actually travels

Your entries, and nothing else. The sync carries your ledger to your own account — it is not a shared or public space, and no other user of Businessly can see it.

See Your data & privacy.

Two devices, same entry

Record on both while offline and both arrive when they reconnect — nothing is discarded. That is the safe behaviour, but it does mean you can create a genuine duplicate by entering the same sale twice on two devices.
