Zakat Book

What the Zakat Book is

A private yearly worksheet for your own wealth — separate from every shop's books, and yours alone.

Most of Businessly is about your shop. The Zakat Book is not. It is about you — everything you own, wherever it is, once a year.

Find it under SettingsPersonalZakat (zakat hisaab).

Why it sits apart

Zakat is counted on everything you own, not on one business. If you run two shops, own some gold, hold a plot and have money in the bank, all of it belongs in one calculation — and none of it belongs in a shop's ledger.

What it does

It is a worksheet, not an oracle. It helps you:

  • list what you own, in five categories
  • carry last year's structure forward so you are not starting blank
  • pull your shop figures in rather than re-typing them
  • apply your gold rate and work out 2.5%
  • record what you actually gave, to whom
  • freeze the year once it is settled, and compare across years

The five categories

Category
CashBank, cash in hand, foreign currency
Gold — jewelleryWhat is worn, with its own deduction
Gold — investmentBars, coins, nuggets
Qarza & investmentMoney lent out or borrowed, shares, committees
PropertyPlots and property held as investment

The shape of a year

  1. Open the year — last year's structure comes forward, values needing review.
  2. Go through each category, confirming or changing what is there.
  3. Pull what you can from your books instead of typing it.
  4. Set your rates, and read off the calculation.
  5. Record giving as you give, through the year.
  6. Freeze the year once your assets are settled.

Each of those has its own page in this book.

It is private

The Zakat Book lives in the same encrypted storage as everything else, and syncs to your own account if you are signed in. It is not shared, not published, and not visible to anyone else using the app.
