Opening a year
Your standing list of assets is already there, so you are never starting from a blank page — but every value arrives marked for review, because nothing is true until you say so.

Which year
Which year? offers three:

An earlier year is for filling in from your old records — it Starts empty — enter it from your old records rather than copying anything.
Where the new year's lines come from
Opening a year fills it from two different places, and the sheet shows them as two separate lists.
From your books (stays live)
Anything Businessly already knows comes across live: the people who owe you, the people you owe, your loans given and taken, cash in hand, stock at cost, and one line per property. These are not copies. Each one keeps reading your own books all year, so a customer who pays you in Rajab, a new debtor in Shaban, or a loan you get back next week all show correctly without you touching the worksheet.

Your assets
Everything the app cannot know — your bank balances, gold, plots, shares, committees — comes from Your assets, the standing list you keep. Nothing is copied from last year, because those things never left that list in the first place. There is no per-category choice to make any more: your assets are simply there.
This is the design's whole point: you should never have to rebuild your list from scratch, and you should never be allowed to accidentally submit last year's numbers as this year's.
Reviewing a line
Open a category and go through it. Each line offers:
- Confirm — the figure is still right
- Change — enter this year's number
Confirming is a real action, not a default. A line you have not touched keeps its NEEDS REVIEW tag, and the year tells you how many are still waiting.
Things that do not carry
The giving list Starts empty each year — what you gave last year has nothing to do with this year, and anything marked NOT COPIED is telling you so on purpose.
Prices do not carry either. Each year records the rates it was actually valued at when you lock it, so a later change to today's gold rate can never move a year you have already locked.
The Zakat day
Each year has a Zakat day — the date your wealth is measured on. Everything in the worksheet is as it stood on that day, not as it stands today.
Deleting a year
Opened one by mistake? Delete this year removes it. Use it for genuine mistakes — a year you actually worked through is worth keeping even if the numbers were rough.
