Zakat Book

Today's prices

Your holdings record what you own. This one screen records what it is all worth on your Zakat day — gold rates, a rate per foreign currency, share prices, property values.

Two different questions

A Zakat worksheet asks two things, and Businessly keeps them apart on purpose.

  • What do you own? Quantities. Twelve tola of jewellery. 3,000 Saudi riyal. Half a plot. You enter these once, inside the year.
  • What is it worth today? Prices. One gold rate. One riyal rate. One value for the plot. These change every year, so they are asked in one place.

Today's prices (aaj ke rate) is that place.

Getting there

While a year is still open, a banner appears on both the year screen and the calculation screen:

  1. Open the year.
  2. Tap the Today's prices (aaj ke rate) banner.
  3. Fill the rows that are shown.

What it asks for

Only rows your holdings need are shown. You will never be asked the gold rate in a year where you hold no gold.

Gold rate per tolaYou hold jewellery
Gold rate per gramYou hold investment gold
One rate per currencyYou hold that foreign currency

Anything still blank shows Not set until you fill it.

One rate per currency, not per note

If you hold Saudi riyal in three places, you set the riyal rate once for the year. Every riyal line uses it. The same goes for gold: one tola rate values all your jewellery.

Everything recomputes as you type

Save a price and the worksheet totals move immediately — Total assets and, through it, the Zakat figure. There is no separate recalculate step.

Setting a price also counts as reviewing that line, so filling in your prices clears NEEDS REVIEW tags as you go.

After freezing

A frozen year keeps the prices it was settled on, and the banner disappears. That is deliberate — a settled year should not silently change because gold moved. See Freezing a year.
